Build something Badagry needs. Pitch it to 500 people.

The Badagry Builder Challenge is a competition for people who make things. You find a real problem in education, health, farming, money, transport, the creative economy or local commerce, you build a solution, and if you make the final ten you pitch it live on the Main Stage on 27 November in front of judges, partners, press and everyone else in the room.

Built by people who know Badagry

Student/Young Builders

You're a student, a young builder or an early-stage team.

Badagry Residents

You're from Badagry Division, or you've got a real connection to it. Wider Lagos is welcome; Badagry gets priority.

Small Teams

Teams of one to four. One entry per team

Strategy and Planning

Your solution can be an idea with a prototype, a working product, or something already live with users. Stage matters less than substance.

Real Problems. Real Solutions.

Education

Anything that helps a student in a Badagry classroom learn faster.

Health

Access, records, reminders, the queue at the general hospital.

Agriculture

Fishing, farming, getting produce to market at a fair price.

Money

Saving, paying, getting paid, for people the banks don't serve well.

Transport and logistics

The expressway, the waterways, the last mile.

Creative economy and local commerce

The market, the makers, the tourism nobody has packaged yet.

Community infrastructure

Power, water, waste, safety.

If your problem doesn’t fit a box, enter anyway. The box isn’t the point.

Every submission judged by Five things, equal weight:

01.

Problem.

Do you understand it, and is it real?

02.

Usefulness.

Would someone in Badagry actually use this?

03.

Execution.

Does it work? Show us.

04.

Innovation.

Is there an idea in here we haven’t seen?

05.

Scale.

Could this go beyond one street?

Questions? We've got you.

No. Hardware, design, a service, a business model: if it solves the problem and you can show it working, it counts

Yes, if it’s yours and it’s real.

No.

Yes. All of it.

Finalists need to be in the room on 27 November. We help with transport for school teams.

How to enter

One form. It asks who you are, what the problem is, what you’ve built, and for a link or a two-minute video. Twenty minutes if you already have the thing; longer if you’re still building it, which is fine.
